Shwinco Industries' New Vinyl Windows and Doors Promise
To Revolutionize Industry
Panama City, FL May 10, 2005
- Shwinco Industries debuts its newest product line, the
EXT Series. Independent testing has shown the windows and
doors to be so strong that they are the first vinyl products
to be rated for "Heavy Commercial Use" for high
rise hotels and condominiums. Building codes that far exceed
those of residential structures. This rating opens unheard
of protection for homeowners and creates building opportunities
Commercial Architects and Builders never thought possible.
When Shwinco industries first designed their new storm
protection line of windows and doors, they new that they
would be strong. No one could have anticipated how strong
the EXT Series would prove to be. After a battery of tests
by the NCTL Labs in Orlando, FL., a recognized leader in
independent product testing, the Shwinco EXT Series (Extreme
Storm Protection) has been rated a DP 100 and is the first
vinyl window and door line to be rated for "Heavy Commercial
Use" in high rise hotels and condominiums. This breakthrough
in window and door technology offers architects and builders
options never before possible for commercial structures.
Homeowners benefit with unprecedented protection during
extreme coastal weather conditions.
Independent testing on a 4ft, 4in X 6ft 6in Shwinco EXT
Series window was conducted by the National Certified Testing
Laboratories in Orlando Florida and the window received
a rating of DP 100. A DP 100 rated window can withstand
sustained wind forces up to 200 Miles Per Hour. The average
sized window in a typical home is 44% smaller than the tested
window and much stronger. Such windows would rate significantly
higher than the DP 100 score.
The EXT Series is also Energy Star rated, allowing architects
and builders to create energy efficient structures that
were impossible before using aluminum products. Craig Shipp,
President and CEO of Shwinco Industries explains, "Imagine
the air conditioning cost for a fifteen story beach condo
in Florida. The energy savings over the lifetime of such
structures using our windows will be astronomical. Architects
never had this option before, vinyl windows were never strong
enough to meet the stringent building codes for commercial
buildings. Shwinco changed all that, and I'm excited about
it's future applications for the industry."
In the residential arena, homeowners can capitalize on
this unprecedented strength to protect their investment
against extreme weather common in coastal communities. With
the world watching Florida, the 2004 hurricane season taught
everyone valuable lessons about Hurricane Preparedness.
Sid Busiek of the Bay County Florida Emergency Management
Division explains, "The destruction of a home is accomplished
when a breach occurs, usually through a broken window. The
building quickly over pressurizes causing the home to basically
explode. Any thing that can prevent the breach of the facility
will prevent over pressurization, thereby protecting the
facility from destruction." In product testing labs,
like NCTL in Orlando, products are tested by firing 2X4s
out of air cannons at 52 feet per second directly into them.
At these speeds, a 2X4 easily penetrates plywood, the most
common protection measure used by homeowners during a hurricane.
The same 2X4 bounces off the Shwinco EXT Series products.
Impact resistant windows and doors like the Shwinco EXT
Series, which far exceed the protective qualities of traditional
defensive measures (like boarding up windows), can make
the difference between minor damage and a major disaster.
